Submerge

Inspired by the anchor links submerging into the ocean, the Submerge collection captures the fluid motion of the sea and sparkling reflection of light dancing on the waves.

The design features a paperclip chain necklace and bracelet, with our Cygnet Bay (WA) grown Australian South Sea pearls and white diamonds set on select clips.

Honouring the rich history and heritage of pearling, Submerge reflects the timeless relationship between the ocean and the pearls it nurtures. Each piece pays tribute to the pursuit of pearling, continuing a tradition of craftsmanship passed down through the generations.

What is the inspiration behind the Submerge jewellery collection?

Submerge draws inspiration from the bold geometry of the 1920s Art Deco design era. The collection reinterprets the clean lines and structured forms from this era through the lens of modern pearling heritage, pairing our Australian South Sea pearls with paperclip chains and complemented by sparkling diamonds that echo the glamour of the 1920s era.

Why does the Submerge collection feature paperclip chain links?

The paperclip chain links represent anchor chains found on pearling vessels, symbolising the connection to the water and the act of "submerging" beneath the surface of our ocean farms.

Their elongated, repeating shapes also pay homage to the Art Deco style. Select links feature pave set diamonds, adding a subtle sparkle reflecting the light dancing on the waves where our Pinctada maxima pearl shell float beneath the surface of our Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm.

How do the South Sea pearls enhance the look of the Submerge pieces?

Pearls were a signature element of the 1920s, with ladies wearing iconic pearl strand necklaces and bracelets.

In the Submerge collection, Australian South Sea pearls sit against strong, anchor-inspired chains, creating a contrast of organic and architectural forms that mirrors the spirit of the Art Deco design.

What Materials and Design Elements Make the Submerge Collection Unique?

The Submerge Collection draws its inspiration from the working elements of pearling vessels, particularly the anchor chains that descend beneath the ocean's surface, linking boat to seabed. This functional maritime form is reinterpreted through refined jewellery design, where sculptural chain links and our Australian South Sea pearls come together to create pieces that are modern and deeply connected to the pearling industry.

Crafted using premium precious metals including 18ct yellow and white gold, the Submerge designs feature bold yet elegant paperclip style chains that echo the structure of anchor links. The clean geometry of the chain is softened by the addition of pearls, while select links are set with pave diamonds that reflect light like sunlight shimmering across the water's surface.

This collection reflects the balance of modern minimalism and maritime heritage, distinguishing it from more traditional pearl designs. For more information about the materials and finishes used across our jewellery, explore our guide to metals, settings and finishes.

Which Pearl Types and Shapes are Showcased in the Submerge Collection?

The Submerge Collection highlights the natural beauty of our Australian-grown pearls, paired with contemporary paperclip chain design to create bold yet elegant pieces.

The collection features our Cygnet Bay (WA) grown Australian South Sea pearls. These pearls are known for their exceptional size, deep lustre and soft neutral tones, making them an ideal centrepiece within the structured chain designs of Submerge.

In keeping the the modern style of the collection, pearls are selected in classic round, near-round and baroque shapes. This creates a striking balance between organic and architectural design.

The Submerge collection includes necklaces, earrings and statement bracelets, where pearls are integrated into elongated paperclip links. These contemporary designs complement other refined ranges within Pearls of Australia, including the elegant shapes found in the Eternal Collection.
