Our Pearl Farms
Where Australia's rarest pearls are grown
At Pearls of Australia, our saltwater pearls are carefully cultivated in two of Australia's most pristine environments: The rugged, remote coastlines of the Kimberley in Western Australia, and the winding waterways of the lower Hawkesbury River in New South Wales.
Both our pearl farms contribute to the beauty, quality and provenance of our pearls, combining pearling legacy with sustainable aquaculture, and now immersive experiences.
Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm
Dampier Peninsula, Western Australia
Just north of Broome in WA, Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm is one of the original Australian-owned and operated pearl farms, and a cornerstone of the South Sea pearl industry.
Here, our Australian South Sea pearls are grown within the Pinctada maxima shell, and take several years of care to mature and produce incredible pearls prized for their purity, size and lustre.
Broome Pearl Farm
Broome, Western Australia
Located in the heart of Chinatown, our Broome Boutique is home to our showroom. Here, visitors can explore how pearls are grown, hear stories from our expert guides, and discover the pearling history that helped shape Australia's north.
Broome stands as a gateway between Indigenous culture, maritime history, and modern hearling innovation, giving our guests an immersive connection to people, place and our pearls.
Broken Bay Pearl Farm
Lower Hawkesbury River, New South Wales
On the east coast of Australia, nestled along the lower Hawkesbury River, lies Broken Bay Pearl Farm, the only operating pearl farm in New South Wales.
This unique estuarine farm cultivates stunning Australian Akoya pearls, known for their incredible lustre. Our guided experiences allow visitors to gain firsthand insight into the pearl farming process while enjoying the natural beauty of the river and its surroundings.
Sustainable Pearl Farming
At each of our pearl farms our approach to pearl cultivation honours the environment, local communities and the heritage of Australia's pearling history.
Pearl farming is a careful balance between science and art: Skilled technicians insert a tiny nucleus inside the pearl shell and care for the shell over years as it layers nacre, eventually forming a gem of lustrous beauty. The result is not only a sustainably cultured gemstone, but also an ongoing partnership between people and place - supporting our marine ecosystems and the people that work within them.
