At Pearls of Australia, supporting our community and giving back is at the heart of what we do. Our Commitment to Giving Back

Jewellery for a cause is one way that we honour our philosophy of creating jewellery with meaning, traceability and positive impact. We are proud to be long-term partners with Take 3 for the Sea and Save the Children, where our Australian charity jewellery collections directly contribute to their important work.

Beyond these partnerships, a significant proportion of our annual donation fund supports local charities, fundraisers and thoughtful community initiatives, making a meaningful difference where it matters most. Combined, these efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to making a creating meaningful impact across a wide range of important causes.

Your support makes a difference! Here you can see a breakdown of our philanthropic efforts during the last financial year.

Save the Children Jewellery Collection

One of our longest-standing charity partnerships, Save the Children allows us to make a direct positive impact on the lives of children and youth in the remote Dampier Peninsula, home to our Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. Their programs help “close the gap” in outcomes for Aboriginal children through early childhood education and parent support services.

James Brown, our Managing Director and third-generation pearl farmer, grew up in Cygnet Bay and attended the small public school. Supporting the wellbeing and opportunities of young people in this community is deeply personal to him.

Now in its sixth year, our Save the Children collaboration has raised $172,707.36. This collection features beautiful Mabe (or half-pearls) direct from our Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. Across rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets and cufflinks, each piece showcases the iconic Save the Children motif on the back. 20% of proceeds from this collection go directly to Save the Children’s programs in the local Kimberley communities that neighbour Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm.

For jewellery lovers who want their pieces to make a difference, this collection remains one of our most popular. Should you choose the pendant, we like to think this will hang as close to your heart as it does ours.

Take 3 for the Sea Jewellery Collection

Our collaboration with Take 3 for the Sea honours the pristine marine ecosystems where our Australian South Sea and Akoya pearls are grown. This organisation is close to our hearts for its commitment to reducing plastic pollution and inspiring people to take small, meaningful actions that make a real difference.

James Brown has a deep-rooted commitment to sustainable practices and ocean conservation, making this partnership a natural fit for Pearls of Australia.

We have supported Take 3 for the Sea since 2021 and launched our Mother of Pearl jewellery collaboration in 2024. For this collection, we crafted aquamarine, lapis lazuli and turquoise bracelets featuring a Cygnet Bay grown Australian Mother of Pearl charm with a delicately engraved turtle.

20% of all sale proceeds support Take 3’s mission to reduce plastic pollution on our coastlines, and we have so far donated over $2,465 to this important cause. Your purchase supports Take 3’s community beach cleanups and educational programs on plastic reduction.

These delicate bracelets are the perfect choice for ocean lovers. Each piece allows its wearer to show their commitment to protecting our oceans and serves as a reminder that small actions can create big change.

Supporting Our Community

A key element of Pearls of Australia’s philanthropy program is our ongoing support for local charities, fundraisers and community initiatives. This represents the largest portion of our donation strategy and reflects our deep commitment to building strong, thriving communities in the regions in which we operate. In the 2024 to 2025 financial year alone, this support totalled $52,254.25.

Over the years, we’ve proudly supported organisations including the Neuromuscular Foundation, Zero2Hero, the McGrath Foundation, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, A Bear Affair, as well as local schools and community events.

These donations can make a huge impact. For example, A Bear Affair, which raises money for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, is a cause close to our hearts. Each year, we donate a prize worth $10,000 to this important fundraiser, supporting comfort, care and dignity for children facing serious or life-limiting illnesses.

This stands alongside our relationship with the Traditional Owners of the Dampier Peninsula, the Bardi Jawi people. It’s a relationship that spans eighty years and is a core part of our identity. Together, we celebrate Bardi Jawi culture, support local employment and education, and integrate traditional knowledge into our aquaculture practices through the Kimberley Marine Research Centre. This ensures our work is grounded in respect, sustainability and shared stewardship of our marine environments.

We also collaborate with leading education institutions such as the University of Western Australia, James Cook University, and Macquarie University to further marine research, foster innovation, and provide training for the next generation of scientists and industry leaders. These partnerships help us stay at the forefront of sustainable practices while nurturing the skills and knowledge needed to protect and grow Australia’s pearling industry for the future.

Why Jewellery For A Cause Matters

Jewellery is something meaningful that captures a moment in time, expresses joy or celebration and becomes a deeply personal treasure or heirloom. When, in addition to all this, jewellery also gives back or supports an important cause, it can become a force for good and a driver of change.

Jewellery that gives back is about wearing your values. There’s no better feeling than receiving a compliment and being able to share the story behind your piece, a story of purpose and connection. Each time you wear it, you’re reminded that your choice has contributed to something bigger than yourself.
